One of the major environmental issues harming Pakistan is pollution, at the heart of which is littering. Littering and dumping trash everywhere except for in the bins has become a national habit simply because it’s convenient and/or there’s no incentive to dump trash in the bins. We at AKSA are providing just the motivation people need to dump their trash in the bins more frequently.
The Wi-Fi bins initiative aims to reduce littering and pollution by manifold. The idea is to provide an excuse to visit a designated bin and dump the trash there. As the name suggests, every time the lid is pushed to drop in a piece of trash, a screen display on top of the bin would flash a Wi-Fi password – essentially offering free Wi-Fi as a reward for being a responsible citizen.
The purpose is to provide a modern day solution to the perpetual littering problem that is damaging our environment. And since everybody owns a smartphone these days especially the most frequent litterers, offering free Wi-Fi in the vicinity of the trash bin will certainly promote the bins intended usage with the added hopes of making the general public conscious about their careless pollution contributing habits.
